The Ultimate Caribbean Summer Journey to Anguilla

Summer marks the beginning of Anguilla’s off season, which lasts from mid-May through mid-November. During this time, the weather is more humid, but still tolerable, yet the fall hurricane season isn’t in full swing yet. Prices for airfare and accommodations can be up to 50% lower than during the peak season, making it an incredible time to plan a Caribbean summer vacation on a budget.

Below, we’ve put together a guide for you on how to make the most out of your Caribbean summer vacation on Anguilla.

Summer Activities On Anguilla

  • On Anguilla, you can enjoy many of your favorite activities year-round. However, some activities are more ideal for the summer season, while others are less ideal.
  • Restaurants remain open for most of the summer. The restaurants that close normally begin closing in late July, but the majority close after Carnival for the hurricane season and reopen anytime between October and November. Call ahead to the restaurants you’re interested in visiting during your vacation to make sure they’ll be open.
  • The waters of the Caribbean Sea become ultra clear during the summer. It’s the best time of year for water sports like snorkeling and scuba diving, since you’ll have the greatest visibility underwater.
  • The tradewinds are also great for sailing during the summer. The season’s also great for sunset cruises, kayaking (especially glow in the dark kayaking with Liquid Glow), stand up paddleboarding, and fishing.
  • Be careful of strong rip currents during this time of year while swimming.

Festivals & Events

  • Anguilla has a number of amazing events you can enjoy throughout your Caribbean summer adventure.
  • The Anguilla Regatta in May celebrates Anguilla’s national sport, sailing. Anguilla Lit Fest takes place in mid-May and attracts writers from near and far for writing panels and other writing themed activities. May 30th is Anguilla Day, which commemorates the culture of Anguilla through the Round-the-Island boat race.
  • On June 11th, Anguilla celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday with parades and the Queen’s Birthday Boat Race in Crocus Bay. The Anguilla Open Golf Tournament also takes place in June.
  • For 11 days from late July through early August, Anguilla comes alive during the Anguilla Summer Festival, peaking with the island’s Carnival celebration. Parades, pageants, live music, and street fairs cover the island.
  • Other exciting summer events include Welches Fest and A Village Ting Festival.
