Don’t suffer in the snow with the rest of the world! Escape from the harsh cold of winter and into the beautiful sunshine and soft sands of Anguilla! Our island offers visitors the chance to experience a whole new appreciation for winter while basking in the sun’s rays and playing in the warm waters of the Caribbean. Below, you’ll find our guide to experience the ultimate Anguilla holiday vacation!

Winter Events & Festivals

  • On Anguilla, there are several different winter festivals that liven up the island for the holidays.
  • Throughout December, Anguilla holds Christmas festivities such as pageants, parades, tree lighting ceremonies, and more. Celebrating this holiday on the sands of Anguilla gives the term “white Christmas” a whole new meaning!
  • On December 19th, our island celebrates its national history and heritage with National Heroes and Heroines Day. This holiday recognizes the men and women who have contributed to Anguilla’s culture and welfare through their lives and actions.
  • Old Year’s Night (or New Year’s Eve to the rest of the world) is celebrated on Anguilla by sending off the old year with an all day, all night party hosted by local and reggae legend, Bankie Banx, at The Dune Preserve. Other spots around the island that hold their own Old Year’s Night celebrations include SandBay, Veya, Straw Hat, The Pumphouse, Blanchard’s Beach Shack, Hibernia Restaurant and Art Gallery, and Elvis’ Beach Bar. It’s definitely one of the best places to have the best Anguilla christmas.

Winter Activities & Watersports

  • Many of Anguilla’s best sports and activities can be enjoyed in both winter and spring, but water conditions for surfing and fishing are at their best during winter. For most of the year, Anguilla is not known for its surfing, due to the calm nature of its waters. However, winter brings on stronger swells, drawing in surfers who are looking for California-quality waves without the crowds. Additionally, our water is warmer than elsewhere, making surfing more enjoyable.
  • Fishing is plentiful in the winter, with species like sailfish, snook, wahoo, dorado, grouper, kingfish, lady fish, marlin, and barracuda coming out in force. You can also see these fish while snorkeling or scuba diving near Anguilla’s marine parks and coral reefs.
  • Finally, keep your eye out for celebrities during the early weeks of January because a lot of them come out to Anguilla for the holidays.
